Life's Essence & Sustenance

……as His divine power, has given unto us all things that pertain unto life (the property of being able to survive and grow) and godliness (exhibiting characteristics emanating from God) through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue II Peter 1:3

This is a profound scripture and it embodies the nature of the dominion God has given us (His sons) over all creation. Everything we will ever require to fulfill our assignment here on earth, He has given unto us through the knowledge of Him. This means that it is a process and can only be attained through knowing (having communion, fellowship with) Him. In other words, there has to be a knowing of Him before we can realize the things that pertain to life and godliness.

As we grow in the knowledge of Him who has called us with the aid of glory and virtue, we’ll receive the divine power that is attributable to sustenance and growth and we will emanate godly characteristics.

How do we know Him or how do we gain knowledge of Him? The answer is simple but it can only be found through diligence and commitment to the word of God (scriptures in the Bible) and communion with the Holy Spirit. There are no shortcuts to gaining knowledge of Him who has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light; there are no other gates, doors or windows leading to this path of knowledge except through diligent search of the words of life and wisdom documented in the scriptures.

From the introductory scripture, it can be implied directly that the knowledge of him is the essence of our living and sustainability. Without Him, our existence, destiny and pursuits are heavily compromised. All we will ever need in life (both in eternity and this side of eternity) is embedded in Him and has we unfold Him (through communion with the word and the Holy Spirit) we find our true definition within His purpose and true fulfillment.

The word of God is important in our pursuit of God; it is the foundation for all things, in the beginning was the word and with the word, all creation was established. The bible says your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path Ps 119:105; the word of God encapsulates hindsight, insight and foresight and at the same time is the light that illuminates every darkened circumstance. I love this scripture and I’ve been mediating on it for a while now especially with regards to wisdom for direction; the word will illuminate the path to my destiny in God as I stay focused on the word.

My meditation doesn’t end here; there is still the communion with the Holy Spirit. Isn’t it good news that we have the Holy Spirit as our teacher to guide us in all truths and teach us the things of the father and the Son? I can always call on the Holy Spirit to help me and teach me in the paths of life and righteousness.

I pray that God will grant me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of my understanding being (continuously) enlightened that I may know the hope of His calling and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints Eph 1:18.
